A Message:

I’m not going to lie. It’s been a cheeky minute since we’ve put out anything on the site. We are revamping, our post schedule is going to be regulated and there will not be a break as extended as the one we are returning from. Once again, I’m not going to lie, the break was my primarily my doing. I was graduating high school, and quite frankly: Did not have the time or energy that this site requires to function whilst dealing with the amount of end-of-year tasks that had to be completed. With that being said, this site is now my number one priority and content will not be few and far between.

Thank you for understanding,

*Cheeky Minute, AKA: A FEW MONTHS.

Here is a quick interview we did with The Ratio, a band we discovered over Instagram. After giving them a listen, it was absolutely necessary that we interviewed them. So, naturally we slid into their dms(like any professional interviewer would) and requested a few moments of their time. They were kind enough to take the time to respond to our questions and provide a great interview to come back with.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your sound and influences.

A: As a band we come from very diverse musical backgrounds, which we feel contributes greatly to our sound. Our members are influenced by everything from contemporary indie to jazz to heavy metal. We feel this gives us a lot of range to explore new musical styles and ideas.

Q: How long have you been a band and how did you form?

A: We’ve been a band since October of 2017. We met randomly as we all lived in the same dorm at the University of Pennsylvania and we had an immediate chemistry.

Q: You guys have seemingly been together for a short amount of time, as your Instagram only dates back to 2017, and yet you’ve already amassed over 2k followers on Instagram. Why do you think you’ve shot up so quickly and are you continuing to see growth in your following as you begin to release original music?

A: I would attribute our success to the fact that college campuses are very active socially, so once we started playing shows, word spread fast. Couple that with the fact that there are very few other bands at UPenn, and we gained popularity very quickly.

Q: What inspired your album art for your newest release?

A: Our latest album art was done by the amazing @chloemichelle_art, a close friend of ours. The art was inspired mostly by our feelings while writing that release. We had just gone through a long winter full of personal struggles and with the coming of spring, we finally felt like things were looking up. The art reflects this: half the tree is still dead but the other is just starting to bloom. Things always get better.

Q: Approximately how many shows have you performed as a band?

A: We’ve only played around six shows as a band. We see every show as an opportunity to refine our stage presence and live sound.

Q: What is the end goal for this band? Is this a side gig, or are you guys hoping to make it in the music industry?

A: The end goal is yet to be determined. For now we’re just looking to share our music and give shows that are an experience people will never forget.

Q: Describe your newest release in one word.

A: Hopeful

Q: Why should people listen to you?

A: We’re bringing a fresh new sound to the table that’s hard to describe. You have to hear it to know.

Q: What do you hope to get out of 2018 as a band?

A: In 2018 we hope to further refine our sound and explore new sonic textures and ideas as well

Q: Do you have anything you’d like to add for our viewers to see?

A: Check out our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIQZ0UvW6waQojOdMkxAQww for some live videos and new songs.

As always, we wish this band the best of luck in their endeavors and cannot wait to see what's to come from them. Tell us what you think of the band and this interview and stay tuned for more fun stuff!!

(Look out for a review of their single, Springtime, coming soon).

Be sure to check out The Ratio on all of their social media:
