One of the hottest releases of 2018 thus far in the Alternative Music industry is Entertainment, an album by Waterparks. Fans were nervous that with how well-received their album Double Dare was, expectations for the new album would be too high and the critics would rate it a flop.
Not only were expectations for this album met, but they were beyond exceeded.
Now, let's break this album down song by song:

This song is an absolute bop. The only issue we have with it is that it seems like it should be somewhere else in the album. The first song on the album is supposed to be one of the strongest, so it feels like this song should trade places with 'Not Warriors'. It just felt like they could have set the mood for the rest of an album with a more pronounced song. Once you get over the placement, the song is full of quotable lyrics, crazy instrumentals and a catchy chorus. A definite hit.
The most popular song on the album, by far. This is most likely due to the fact that it mimics the vocal runs that are featured in the band's most popular song 'Stupid For You', which appeared on their first official album Double Dare. The song has a light poppy chorus, but also features a more edgy sound throughout the rest of the song.
Track 03: Peach(Lobotomy)
This song goes from heart throb to heart ache extremely fast. The song starts off with a catchy whistle and Awsten using his sweet vocals to make us instantly fall in love with the song. Although, the lyrics seem light-hearted enough, there's something in the instrumental that tugs at your heart strings a bit. It becomes clear throughout the rest of the song that it isn't a song about a romance that is going well. This is definitely a beautiful and genius addition to this album.
Another song that had us fooled!!
This is one of the lighter songs on the album. Although, the lyrics and the instrumentals don't necessarily match up, it adds something special and unique to the song.
THIS SHOULD BE TRACK 01, WATERPARKS. JUST SAYING.
This track is the must-have ballad of the year. With a haunting video to accompany this beautiful song about a "love I can't control", I have to say that, personally, this track takes the cake for the best song on the album. Waterparks is back at it again with the best acoustic of the year(They snatched that title right up in 2016 with their song '21 Questions').
This song is Rare for sure. In fact, the band has already pushed out some killer merch for this killer track. Their merch site will be at the end of the article. Be sure to check it out and deck yourself out in their stellar selection of Waterparks gear. Sorry, off track with the merch plug. 'Rare' is that song with words that in context, are so heavy with emotion that it makes you want to cry. I think that because of this song, the highest compliment a Gloom Boy could give you would be:
"You know I think you're rare".
Fuck. Did you feel that? Your heart swelled, didn't it? Mine did too.
BAD FUCKING ASS.
If Awsten Knight's Twitter were a song, this would be it. Knight calls out all of the people following him around like leaches, hoping to sap away some of his fame, a "married mister who tried to move on my misses", and he is not taking any prisoners this time. You have to hear this ground-breaking punk anthem.
With -what we think are- references to two of Melanie Martinez songs, this song expresses insecurity with a gloomy sound that leaves a soft-rock/electro taste in your mouth.
This song is phenomenal, melodic and IT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN LAST. Come on, Waterparks!! The obvious choice for the closer was TANTRUM. End this killer album with the roast of the century! Either way, this song was an obvious song to make the album, as it stands true to Waterparks' sound and is 100% radio-worthy.
There you have it! Entertainment is a must have for 2018 and every year after that! If you haven't already, check out Waterparks. They're a stellar band that you won't want to miss out on.
