Carly Reviews:
Lucy Dacus
Historian
Lucy Dacus has graced all of alternative music with her second album, released March 2nd. Very few times has such a mature sophomore album been seen. This album’s name: Historian. Dacus opens the album with Night Shift, which is an abnormal six minutes. It’s an ode to losing and moving on from love. And we love it! Quite appropriately, the album ends with the song Historians. It’s a story to letting a lover in, and growing old and eventually losing the other. The song is emotional and real, and has an almost ghostly feeling to it. Of course, these two songs are great, but all the inbetweens are just as good! Historian is haunting, and even while you’re not listening to it, it resonates through you. It’s the type of artistry that sticks with you. We’re completely enamored with this album, and if you give it a shot, you will be too!
