The plan was to write a full length review of Pop Evil's self-titled album release(Creative.. Not), but after force-feeding myself only a few of the songs, I simply could not bear the torture of this horrific album. I, personally, had extremely high hopes for this band, as they are the headlining the tour Palaye Royale is currently on(which I happen to have tickets to) and they(Palaye Royale) are a fantastic and authentic band. However, after listening Pop Evil, I must confess that I most likely will be exiting the building as quickly as possible to avoid their set.
Let me try to put their sound into words to save you the regret of listening to this album:
Nickelback meets a mediocre metal revamp with vocals that clash with the instrumentals.
I shouldn't be so cruel... Let's get into some of the positives of this album:
The album art is kick ass and the instrumentals are bearable.
That's it.
Those are the positives.
Now, this isn't to say that Pop Evil is a horrible band. This is just to say that this particular album is sub-par. We definitely hope this band develops and learns from their mistakes as artists... Or maybe I'm totally off an people will dig their sound. Who knows? Either way, we wish them the best in their endeavors. Check out their album and tell us what you think of them!
Where to find them:
