Carly Reviews:

Vance Joy

Nation of Two

Vance Joy is back with his second studio album, released February 23rd, 2018. And man, it is good. Every song on the album shows off the best of Joy’s songwriting skills as well as vocal abilities. The first track on the album is Call if You Need Me. It may be a love song, but it’s constructed with just the right amount of heart and emotion to make it feel real and raw, rather than cheesy. The album concludes, ironically, with the song Where We Start. Like the other songs on the album, it is beautifully written. Similar to Joy’s first album, he tells a story, rather than just producing any song he can push out. Joy displays in Nation of Two that he has the unique ability to paint visuals in the listener’s head. You can see every scenario play out as you listen. Vance Joy transcends the typical singer/songwriter. He writes from the heart, and this album is a stellar representation of his talents and creativity. If you hear Vance Joy’s name, and only think of Riptide, you are missing out on some amazing artistry.

All the songs are great, but my personal favorite off the album is Bonnie and Clyde. Let us know what you think of Joy’s new album. Did he hit the mark with Nation of Two? We think he did!
