This year, Gerard Way, former My Chemical Romance member, released his brand new single(and we kind of wish he hadn’t). The single is titled, Baby You’re a Haunted House, which is already a questionable title, but seeing as Gerard has plenty of experience in songwriting and production, we went ahead and gave it the benefit of the doubt.
Sadly, we were not impressed.
So, it is with great hesitation and sadness that we dub this single the biggest disappointment of 2018. Now, it’s not to say that the song is terrible. It’s just that it’s Gerard freaking Way. The former Emo King. When Gerard announced his new single, the alternative community was so stoked, considering it’s been such a long time since Gerard had released any music, but collectively, I think everyone can agree that this song is by far the worst thing he’s ever released. The song features lyrical cliches, the most prominent being the literal title of the song. I mean: “Baby, you’re a haunted house”?
Really, Gerard? What in the actual fuck does that even mean?
Lyrically, the song is immature and undeveloped, while the programming and overall audio sound as though it were put through Garageband. So, I guess what we’re trying to say is… It’s sloppy. Extremely sloppy. We hope Gerard can take some time and create something wonderful for his loyal fans in the future. But sadly, this is just not it.
